Rajkumar Bhaduri

Hi, I’m Raj. (“Wo Jiao Raj”).  I work as an Architecture Strategy and Planning Manager for an energy company in the U.K.  When first faced with the idea to trek the Great Wall of China and at the same time raise awareness and money for Newick House and The National Autistic Society, a worthy cause, I was delighted.

I must admit I am a beginner to the trekking scene and I am well aware that this is no easy ride - there will be challenges along the way, however, I’m preparing hard and am very much looking forward to this experience where I will be working with a group of people whom I will be meeting for the first time on the trek.

I am currently learning Chinese so I hope to support my trek mates in essential conversation with locals.  I am really excited about this venture and I’m focused on this cause as well as the opportunity to be able to give something back to society, but this can only be done with your kind help. "So please support me on this expedition and sponsor me. Looking forward to this trip to China."  Qing zhichi Wo. Hen Qidai zheci Zhongguo xing.

I have worked as a Teacher at Newick House School for 2 1/2
years and during this time I have been lucky enough to teach
children with Autism. I am currently the Geography
co-ordinator and the trek will provide me with an excellent
opportunity to build links with people from a contrasting
location that can be shared with the pupils during the trek
and on my return. I am also looking forward to help spread
awareness of autism and raise funds for our school.

Neil is a legal IT consultant who was first exposed to autism when he worked with severely autistic children at Smith Hospital at Henley on Thames (the first hospital to specialise in severely autistic children) as an alternative to Wednesday afternoon games between 1971-1973 whilst at Henley Grammar School – yes, he is older than he looks. He has never forgotten his experiences there – and in an emotionally charged state after two bottles of wine at the Gleneagles dinner, he shook Kevin’s hand and promised to join him on the Great Wall. Oops!

I’ve just finished a post-graduate magazine journalism course (after completing an ancient history degree in 2005) and am currently facing a vast expanse of time filled with nothing but job hunting.

As fun as I anticipate that confidence-killing period of my life to be (!), I decided that a good way to fill at least a week of that time would be to join my dad in September on this trek that he has volunteered to go on (did I say volunteered? I meant drunkenly agreed to).

I am really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute my time and probably quite a few blisters to this worthy cause, as well as raising awareness for autism and meeting an interesting group of people. And getting to experience an amazing country whilst doing it.

As you probably know in September I will be walking the Great Wall of China with my dad (that should be interesting), two sisters and a whole load of other people and it's all for a good cause. We intend to raise lots of money for Friends of Newick House and the National Autistic Society which helps Autistic children. Along side this we hope to raise awareness of autism globally but we can only succeed with your kind help and donations, so please sponser me using this website.

Greetings, I am Anurag Chadha and I work for the same Global Energy Company as Kevin within Performance Management Team. I consider myself to be very fortunate to be chosen to travel to China and take part in this fantastic opportunity to raise money for the Friends of Newick House and the National Autistic Society. This event, called Trek China, involves trekking over the course of a week on the Great Wall of China. I look forward to the mental and physical constraints of this Trek, along with the excitement to be there in support of the families with children of special needs. Many major corporations such as Vodaphone and Microsoft are sponsoring international communications during this event which is key as a part of this programs success and exposure.

Please sponsor me with as much money as you can, so I am able to do my part in spreading awareness and providing funding for research into autism on a global scale. I can only do this with your help of a monetary donation, so please help me help children with autism. Your support will be greatly appreciated and make this trip possible and fulfill my dream of making a difference.

I work as an Information Director for an energy company, based in the UK. My son Jamie has Asperger’s Syndrome and a number of other special needs. He is 11 and has been at Newick House School for two years. Jamie is my inspiration for this trip and I am passionate about doing something to help him specifically and to raise awareness of autism so that we can help other children with the condition. I was fortunate enough to go to China in 2005 and am looking forward to a great opportunity to go back and experience some more of this amazing country.

I have just finished studying my A-levels and am taking a year out before university. Having done Geography at A-level, I am interested in both the physical and human aspects of a country. Therefore China greatly interests me in terms of its cultural and political views as well as the breathtaking landscapes. My brother Jamie has Asperger’s syndrome which is on the Autistic Spectrum - this is a condition which is not widely known about in China, therefore my aims are to spread awareness and raise funds in order to fund research and help children with similar problems.

I work for a Global Energy company as an applications service delivery manager. I am one of the late joiners, but better late than never! I wanted to take part in the Trek since hearing about it but was hesitant due to work commitments and upon receiving support from management I could not help but seize the opportunity. The cause is also very close to home with my brother, Salil, having hemiplegia, essentially paralysis of his entire right side. Therefore, I feel very fortunate to be able to contribute to this cause and to help make a difference for the pupils of Newick House and The National Autistic Society. I hope to raise lots of funds, spread awareness of Autism, and at the same time make lots of friends along this journey.

This is the first time I've engaged in a trek of this magnitude so have started training to prepare for the challenge ahead. :-)  Cheers!

I have been working for the same energy company as Kevin for over a year now within the technology projects team.  Prior to this I mainly worked in the communications sector and shall be assisting in this area throughout the project (website maintenance, newsletter).

Two of my passions are travelling and sport and I am really looking forward to taking on this challenge as a team.  I feel extremely lucky to be participating in such an adventure where I can not only discover the wonders of China but also raise funds and awareness for Newick House and The National Autistic Society.

I am the managing director of Scandia-Hus Manufacturing Ltd. We manufacture energy efficient Swedish timber frame homes. I am married with 3 children, one of which James Dawson has attended Newick House School for about 5 years now. Each year that passes I wish I could have done something in return for all the great work, time and effort the staff put in. I think this will be a fantastic opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Newick House School, as well as the chance to travel and be part of such a fantastic challenge!!

The effort and energy that has gone into this venture is truly inspiring and so when Kevin asked if my team (which introduces new and emerging technologies in BP) could help in any way I decided to sign on the dotted line and get directly involved myself. As well as looking forward to the challenges of the trek and making a contribution to two very worthy and deserving charities, the opportunity to work with others in the trek team to bring the adventure closer to everyone back at home through the Internet (with photos, video and interactive maps) is exciting. I'm married to Moira and have two boys Jamie (15) and Alexander (13) who will all be keenly supporting our efforts.

I work for a international aviation company specialising in providing service support to V.V.I.Ps passengers and crews. I am a member of a team who inspect airports and handling companies all over the world. My son Alex 8 has Autism and has been at Newick house for three years. He has loved every second he’s been at this amazing school. I am looking forward to taking part in this trek to experience China, to rise awareness of Autism and other aspects of the Autistic Spectrum. But most importantly I want to raise as much funding for Newick House and fund further research to help us understand this and related conditions.

I’m married to Marc and we have 2 sons, Sammy (8 yrs) and Toby (9 yrs). I work for Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Horsham, as a Business Analyst.

Sammy is on the Autistic Spectrum and in his 5th year at Newick House. He is a fun-loving, lively, popular boy who contributes fully to a close and, at times, a hilarious family environment. We feel that the School has contributed to this. Apart from the amazing progress Sam has made at Newick House, he loves his time at School, from running out to the taxi each morning, taking part in the varied school activities, whether it be swimming, educational visits, residential stays to the structured 1:1 sessions, etc. As a family we have benefited from the advice, caring environment, education and flexibility which Newick House provides.

I was so pleased to hear about Trek China because it is such an excellent way to do ‘my bit’ and give something back. I didn’t take the decision lightly however because it sounds like it is fairly tough going in places! This Trek is a fantastic opportunity to support the School and The National Autistic Society, thereby increasing awareness and providing funding for research into Autism. I haven’t done anything like this before so I am a little worried but also incredibly excited about this fantastic challenge.
